Wynell "Katie" Corbett passed away June 14th, 2015 at her parents' home in Jennings, FL. She was born and raised in Orlando, FL and a beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt to all of her family. In her life she was known by all as a great friend with a passion for poetry, travel, and strong faith in God, with a love for life and laughter that served as a beacon of light for all around her.
Katie is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Leaundra Denell Jones and Richard Gregory Jones of Pensacola, FL; three sons and daughters-in-law, Preston Howell and Katie Howell of Alachua, FL, Austin Lance Howell and Genie Howell of Gainesville, FL, and Dalton Corbett and Paige Corbett of Echols County; eight grandchildren, William Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Marin Jones, Hope Jones, Nathan Jones, Tate Howell, Tibbs Howell, and Liam Howell, and expecting one on the way; her parents, Alton and Mary Corbett of Jennings, FL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Jeff Anders of Decatur, AL, and Sheila and Jim Schmidt of Tulsa, OK; special nieces and nephews who were like her own children; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, too numerous to mention.
The Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Pastor James Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery at Sardis Baptist Church, Echols County. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
