Winona D. Henry

WINONA D. HENRY, 86, of Valdosta, wife of the late Noel P. Henry, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 after a short illness. She was born on August 3, 1922 in Claxton, a daughter of Alvis I. and Winona Jay Downs. Mrs. Henry had retired from VSU Library after 35 years of service, and was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her three sons, David W. Henry III of Roanoke, VA, Daniel N. Henry, Sr. of Valdosta, and Michael N. Henry of Canton, NC; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy G. Downs of Claxton; and a brother, Alvis I. Downs of Arden, NC.

A private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia.
