Winnie Franks Parr, 92, of Valdosta died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Lakehaven Nursing Home. She was born in Marion County, Alabama on August 23, 1919 to the late James L. and Etta Mae Tesney Franks and had lived in Valdosta since 1950. Mrs. Parr was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in the activities. She enjoyed working in her yard and cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Parr was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Willette and David Butler of Tampa, Fla., her daughter in law, Carolyn Parr of Valdosta, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, two sisters, Virdie Lou Chandler of Trenton, TN. and Leota Cook of Tifton, one brother and sister in law, Lennis and Louise Franks of Tifton, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. F. Parr, her son, Orville Parr and two sisters, Olena Flippo and Willie Mae Ball.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Morningside Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Robertson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Saturday at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
