Winifred "Nell" Gay

Winifred “Nell” Gay, 75, of Barney was called home on Monday, March 26, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Barwick, Georgia on March 10, 1943 to the late Mary Jane Browning Burgess and had lived in Barney most of her life. Mrs. Gay was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Barney and taught Sunday School for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Gay of Barney; her children, Tyron Gay of Barney, Tonya and Richard Andrews of Lexington, GA, Troy Gay and Wendy Williams of Barney, a God given daughter and son in law, Karen and Greg Croft of Barney; her grandchildren, Jessi (Rusty) Beale, James “ Bubba” (Lauren) Croft, Abbey Howard; her great grandchildren, Cooper Croft, Carsyn Croft, Allie Beale; two sisters and a brother in law, Elverta Gay of Barney, Willie and Bill Cordell of Tavares, FL; two brothers and a sister in law, Frank and Linda Burgess of Statenville, Wendell Burgess of Thomasville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Friendship Baptist Church in Barney with Rev. Earl Justice and Rev. Steven Haineault officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira.
