Wilma Rebecca (Becky) Maxwell

Wilma Rebecca (Becky) Maxwell, 80, of Valdosta, died on Monday, March 12, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born in Valdosta on June 12, 1937 to the late Edgar Elisha and Wilma Rebecca Bishop Simpson. She was a retired Parapro and Teachers aide from the Brooks County School System and was a member of Westside Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Mrs. Becky was also involved with Children’s Evangelism and would visit those who were sick and shut-in. She was also a member of the D.A.R. Mrs. Becky loved to work in her yards and gardens but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being an active participant in their activities and lives.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy and Mike Hancock, and Terry Cowart all of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sandra Maxwell of Greensboro, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Courtnie and Mike Kinneman of Hahira, Micah and Kelly Hancock of Warner Robins, Zack Maxwell of Valdosta, Mallory and Landon Crenshaw of Macon, Jenna Maxwell of Valdosta, Colby Cowart of Thomasville, and Sara Grace Maxwell of Greensboro, North Carolina; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler Thompson, Tristin Kinneman, Hannah Thompson, Abbey Kinneman, Rylan Hancock, Jordyn Maxwell, Brysen Southerland, Jase Hancock, Judah Crenshaw, Mercy Crenshaw, and Easton Hancock; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Karla Simpson of Valdosta; a sister-in-law, D’Ree Simpson of Quitman; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Maxwell; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Claude Luke and Betty and Carnell Phillips; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bully and Ann Simpson, and Junior Simpson.
Services for Becky Maxwell will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Whelan and Rev. Austin Wynn officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
