Wilma Jean Carter Allen, 63, of Valdosta died Friday, March 1, 2013 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 20, 1949 in Valdosta to the late James Dawson, Sr. and Annie Verdie Mullis Carter. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and was a medical transcriptionist at Valdosta Neurological Associates for eighteen years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crocheting, knitting and collecting clowns.
Survivors include her husband of forty five years, Eddie Allen of Valdosta, her son, Tim Allen of Valdosta, her daughter and son in law, Kyla and Clint Nelms of Sylvester, her grandchildren, Clayton Rogers, Taylor Nelms both of Sylvester, Tatum Allen of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Vivian and David Rowe of Valdosta, brothers and sisters in law, David and Wanda Carter of Salt Lake City, UT, Alan Carter of Valdosta, Jim and Dee Carter of Gladewater, TX., nieces, Misti Rowe, Robin (Greg) Gay, Kimberly (Shane) Dular, nephews, Aaron (Rachael) Carter, Wayne Carter, Jimmy (Grace) Carter, Allan Carter, numerous great nieces and great nephews, special friend, Evelyn Baldree. The family wishes to express appreciation to Grace Hospice for their kindness and support. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Abby Allen and Faith Allen and one sister, Lily Irene Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 3, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Naylor.
