Mrs. Willodean Lassiter Vickers, 94, of Valdosta passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born November 2, 1926 in Eastman, GA to the late Dewey Mathew (D. M.) Lassiter, Sr. and Daisy Hendrix Lassiter. Mrs. Vickers was a graduate of Echols County High School and attended Valdosta State College for Women. Her working career consisted of being a secretary and bookkeeper for Commercial Credit in Jacksonville, FL, The Langdale Company, Deeb Construction Company, ABEC-AMEC Construction Company and retired Office Manager at Jon Thorne Motor Company in Valdosta, GA. Mrs. Vickers was a member of First Baptist Church in Valdosta and the Seniors Sunday School Class.
She was a Pink Lady at South GA Medical Center for twenty two years on five west, enjoyed traveling, working in her flower garden, reading and being with friends.
Mrs. Vickers is survived by a brother, Wayne Lassiter and his wife, Laura of Valdosta, nieces, Buffie Jones of Stafford, VA, Deana PForte of Dothan, AL, Dawn Morgan of DeFuniak Springs, FL, step niece, Melanie Wagner of Milton, GA, step nephew, Dr. Philip Meeks of Guilford, CT and many cousins, her sister in law, Ruby Lassiter of Ponce de Leon, FL, special friends, Sharon Lodge, Kim Hughes, Liquita Tschetter, Betty Batts and residents of Huntington Ridge Subdivision. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Vickers and her brother, Dewey Mathew Lassiter, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at eleven a. m. at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Mac Weaver officiating. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends from ten a. m. until eleven a. m. prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to The Haven, PO Box 5382, Valdosta, GA 31603 or a charity of your choice. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
