Willis Merle Terry, 93, of Lake Park, GA died Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Langdale Hospice. He was one of eight children born in Albany, GA on June 14, 1923 to the late Alton Marmaduke, Sr. and Morning (Mona) Webb Terry and was reared in Alapaha, GA. Mr. Terry was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and retired from Atlanta Gas Light Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a Depression Era Child, being a part of the Greatest Generation to ever live.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Richard Jason and Cherre Terry of Lake Park, GA; two granddaughters, Dena Bamburg of Ray City, GA, Lisa (Wesley) Wade of Leesburg, GA; five great grandchildren, Raylene Shinall, Rhiannon Mize, Lane Shinall all of Leesburg, GA, Nicklaus Bamburg, Sadie Bamburg both of Ray City, GA; his sister, Vernell Terry Jackson of Valdosta, GA; two step grandchildren, Bobby Terry and Ronald Terry both of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Doris Childs Terry; a son, Ronnie Terry; two stepsons, Larry McNair Terry and Robert McNair Terry; his siblings, Elsie Lee Terry Solomon, Alton Terry, Jr., Sarah Marguerite Terry Burns, Eugene Terry, Hazel Lucille Terry Bond, Charles Edwin Terry.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Mt. Paron Cemetery in Alapaha, GA with Rev. Wayne Boykin officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00-9:00pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, 2215 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
