WILLIE FRANK BARRETT, SR., 70, of Lake Park died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at his home. He was born in Lowndes County on June 7, 1937 to the late Frank Payne and Fannie Alma Shiver Barrett. Mr. Barrett was a member of the Antioch Church in Echols County, retired from the construction industry and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a good practical joker and prankster and loved and enjoyed company, when you visited he like to the turn the TV off and sit on the front porch and talk. Mr. Barrett was free hearted and accomodating. He was a good cook and enjoyed fixing meals for his family and friends and never met a stranger and liked to help people.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Gay Barrett of Lake Park, his children and their spouses, Lucretia and Ricky Cole of Savannah, Willie Frank, Jr. (Pete) and Sherry Barrett of Macclenny, Fla., Joey Converse and Tammy Barrett of Columbus, stepchildren and their spouses, David and Susanne Hart, Wismer and Peggy Hart all of Valdosta, James Daniel and Shannon Hart of Tallahassee, Fla., Denise and Kevin Unger of Cocoa, Fla., grandchildren, Jonathan Roswell Barrett, Zachary Pete Barrett, Ashley Blake Barrett, Evan McMillan Barrett all of Macclenny, Fla., Carrie Leigh Bolton, Mariah Ashley Cole both of Savannah, Gabriella Marie Barrett and Javen Cody Barrett both of Columbus, stepgrandchildren, Nathan Hart, Landon Hart and Noah Hart all of Valdosta, Amber Hart, Erin Hart, Trevor Hart all of Tallahassee, Fla., Jessica Unger and Garrett Unger both of Cocoa, Fla., great grandchildren, Naudia Marie Bolton, Serenity Ann Bolton and Jayden Cole Bolton, brother and sister in law, Walter and Joyce Barrett of Valdosta, two sisters and brothers in law, Margaret and Bobby Guess, Rochelle and Edward Miller all of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank P. and Fannie Alma Barrett and a brother, Purdy H. Barrett, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
