William W. Bennett, Jr.

William W. Bennett, Jr., 79, of Valdosta, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Heartland Manor Care, Jacksonville, FL.

He was born November 25, 1931 in Tampa, FL, a son of the late William W. and Helen Atwater Bennett. He proudly graduated from the University of Tampa, and greatly enjoyed long time career as a Certified Public Accountant. Bill's last employment, which he loved the most, was at Valdosta State University as an Internal Auditor, retiring in 2005. He was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his three children, Cynthia L. Bennett and husband Charles E. Bennett, Jr. of Liberty, SC, Susan Smith and husband Ralph of Jacksonville, FL, and Stephen W. Bennett of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Michelle Hodges, Melissa Bennett, Amy Alge and husband Danny, David Smith and Trina Smith; three great-grandchildren, Anastasia Hodges, Shelby Hodges and Caitlin Alge. He was one of four siblings, including two sisters, Edith Quirk and Gayle Milligan, and one half-brother, George Adams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Bennett.

Graveside Services for Mr. Bennett will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2011, at Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Willis officiating.
