William Nordin Reed, Sr. 81, of Valdosta died Friday, April 15, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Sioux Falls, SD on March 4, 1924 to the late Louis J. and Gudrun Hjorth Nordin and later adopted and raised by the late Leonard M. Reed. He was a 1941 graduate of Cresco Iowa High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II from August 22, 1941 to February 1947 as a Chief Pharmacy Mate and received Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign and Victory medals. He married Nancy I. Kaltwasser on May 3, 1946 in Folkston, Georgia and she preceded him in death. Mr. Reed attended Butler University in Indianapolis and Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where he received his B. S. in Pharmacy in May of 1951. He was a registered pharmacist from 1951-1996 and practiced pharmacy in Indianapolis, Huntington, Warsaw, Maion, Elwood and Fairmount. He was a former member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Amvets #5 and Samartian Masonic Lodge #105 in Marion, Indiana.
Survivors include three sons, William M. Reed, Jr. of Marion, IN, Gregory M. Reed of Valdosta, GA, and Theodore E. Reed of Walton, IN., 10-grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
Funeral services have been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 20, 2005 in the Raven-Choate Funeral Home Chapel, Marion, IN with burial in the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County, IN.
