William Robert (Bobby) Van Ausdall

William Robert (Bobby) Van Ausdall, 78, of Twin Lakes, GA, died on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at South Georgia Medical in Valdosta. Born on January 31, 1929 in Dwight, IL, he was the son of the late William Roy and Ina Van Ausdall. His family moved to Twin Lakes in 1936 where Bobby lived the last 72 years of his life.

Bobby was a member of the Presbyterian Chapel at Twin Lakes that his parents helped to build. He was a strong and dedicated Christian, devoted to Jesus Christ and the Lord. He spent time daily studying the Bible and praying.

He had an intense love of South Lowndes County, especially Twin Lakes on Ponce de Leon where he lived most of his life. Bobby was always interested in improving the community in which he and his family and friends lived. He was instrumental in renaming Hwy. 41 after his close friend, Country Johnston and active in having it four-laned. Bobby spear-headed a group of community citizens to have water and sewage brought into Twin Lakes.

Love of God, country, family and friends were the passions that motivated his activities throughout his life of 78 years. During the course of his life, Bobby Van Ausdall was involved in many different professions. His parents owned and operated several businesses from 1936-1960 including Van’s Restaurant and Bobby’s Gift and Candy Shop located in Twin Lakes, GA. He was employed at the Paper Mill in Clyattville for 17 years where he had many friends. While employed there, he was heavily involved in the movement to attain health benefits for all the employees and learned the cabinet trade by studying library books and from that knowledge started Van’s Cabinets now owned and operated by his son, Billy(Shirley) Van Ausdall and his grandson, Billy (Tiffanie) Van Ausdall. He owned and operated a remodeling business until his death. His latest project was helping families whose homes and lives were been destroyed by the recent tornadoes in Americus, GA.

Mr. Van Ausdall is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Runette Van Ausdall of Twin Lakes; five children and their spouses, Cheryle (Donny) Bryan of Dasher; Billy (Shirley) Van Ausdall of Dasher; David (Elise) Van Ausdall of Destin, FL; Elaine (Jimmie) Tipton of Orange, TX; Johnny Van Ausdall of Twin Lakes; five grandchildren and their spouses, David (Jaime) Van Ausdall of Jennings, FL; Sean (Peighton) Van Ausdall of Nashville, GA; Billie (Tiffanie) Van Ausdall of lake Park; Allison (Corey) Carter of Valdosta; Amy (Jim) Caudle of Lake Park; six great grandchildren which added so much joy and love to his life, Devon Van Ausdall, Connors Van Ausdall, Kate Van Ausdall, Kacey Anna Van Ausdall, Ansley Carter, Austin Van Ausdall and Brayden Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Daniel Van Ausdall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2007 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Future Now, Chris Musgrove, P.O.
