William O. Feimster, 80, of Valdosta passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his home.
William, formerly of Statesville, N.C. moved his family to Valdosta in 1959. He was employed
by the Valdosta Southern Railroad in Clyattville, until the railroad was sold in 1991. He had been President at the time of retirement.
William was a past member of the Rotary Club and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation. On September 18, 2008, he was named through the Community Partner in Education, Volunteer of the Year for his work tutoring children to read at the J. L. Lomax Elementary School. He was also an Honorary member of the TKE Fraternity at Valdosta State University. Other interests included photography, bowling, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Feimster; his sons, Terry Feimster of Duluth and Byron Feimster of Vidalia; Daughter-in-law, Patti Feimster; grandsons Justin Feimster of Eugene, Oregon, Gavin Feimster of Duluth, Chandler Feimster and Nathan Feimster of Vidalia; and Sister-in-law Karen Kirk and her husband Herbert Kirk of Douglasville, Ga.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. V.L. Daughtery will officiate. The visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 6:00 -8:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the J. L.
