WILLIAM O. "BILL" COODY
November 5, 1929 to February 7, 2015
William O. "Bill" Coody, 85, of Lake Park, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015. The son of the late Oscar and Mary Newsome Coody, Bill was a life-long resident of the area, well-known for his sense of humor and ever-present cigar. He lived in Lake Park for 65 years. While in the Army at Redstone Arsenal, he met and married Mary Nell Wright in 1956. In 1991 he retired from the PCA Paper Mill in Clyattville after 35 years of service. In retirement he continued to enjoy carpentry and farming, growing "U-Pick" produce for many years. Bill was a member of Wright's Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Mary Nell Wright Coody; two sons, David Coody of Dallas, Texas, and Dan Coody (wife, Missy) of Lake Park, Georgia; three grandsons, Michael Coody (wife, Kelly) of Fort Worth, Texas, Jared Coody and Zach Coody of Lake Park, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Nicole Coody and Jackson Coody of Fort Worth, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters, and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Stegall.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 10th, from 6 to 8 pm at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, February 11th at 11 am at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Jones and Rev. Jacque Asbell officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
