William (Murray) Webb, 61, of Enigma, died on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Shand's at the University of Florida following a short illness. He was born on March 4, 1950 to the late William Milton and Mary Elizabeth Murray Webb. He was an honor grad from Lowndes County High School and recently retired as a Computer Specialist with the Board of Regents for the University system. A former resident of Athens, he was head deacon for Hull Baptist Church in Hull, Georgia and transferred his membership to Westside Baptist Church after moving to this area two years ago. Murray loved to sing, fish and collect coins.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Hall of Sparks and Doris and Danny Gaskins of Tifton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Jan Webb of Clearwater, Florida, Bill and Linda Webb of Jacksonville, Florida, Paul and Cheryl Webb of Valdosta and Franklin and Becky Webb of Lake Park; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy S. Webb and a great-granddaughter, Deanna Michelle McCannon.
Services for Murray Webb will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. The burial will follow in the New Ramah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
