William Mitchell “Mitch” Walker, 62, of Valdosta, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 14, 2017. He was born in the Azalea City on September 15, 1955, to the late Jewell Blessing “Bud” Walker and Coma Leona Lehman Walker. Mr. Walker, known by many as “Mitch the DJ,” was a longtime disk jockey and nightclub personality who delighted club-goers from Valdosta to Houston, where he spun records and entertained audiences for more than four decades. His passion for music was eclipsed only by a deep and abiding love for his family and friends, with whom he shared extraordinary generosity, a wicked sense of humor, innumerable laughs and his signature smile.
Mr. Walker graduated from Lowndes High School in 1973, was a voracious reader and loved to ride motorcycles.
He is survived by his brother and sister in law, Alex, Sr. and Janice Walker of Cape Coral, FL, and by three nieces, three nephews, three grand-nieces, four grand-nephews, and cousins with whom he spent the most time, namely Manor Folsom and Richard Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, the late Jewell Dianne Walker, who died in 1991.
