William Mcclellan "Bill" Hardesty, Jr.

January 4, 1938 — February 20, 2016

William McClellan "Bill" Hardesty, Jr. 78, of Valdosta died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 4, 1938 in Red Jacket, West Virginia to the late William M. Sr. and Zida Cook Hardesty and had lived in Valdosta since 1974. He loved God and life and was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Mr. Hardesty was an ordained Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for more than forty years. He loved his family and fishing with his grandsons. He worked in the car business for many years before starting his own contracting business. Mr. Hardesty was an avid sportsman who loved playing golf and supporting the Lowndes High Vikings. He will be remembered for the stories he told of his growing up in West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Hardesty of Valdosta; his three children and their spouses, Sherri and Jack Strayhorn, Greg and Kay Hardesty, Terri and Robby Meyers all of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Kayla and Jesse DeLaune, Jim and Megan Letourneau, Ray and Missy Meyers, Tori and David Mize, Will Hardesty, Amber Hardesty and Mary Kathryn Hardesty; six great grandchildren, Kamryn DeLaune, Rilynn Letourneau, Ansley Letourneau, Holden Meyers, Cason Meyers and Braylee Mize; two brothers and sisters in law, Philip and Jan Hardesty of Orange Park, FL, Larry and Donna Hardesty of Whitman, WVA; two sisters and a brother in law, Peggy and Bob Skibo of Surprise, AZ, Frances Frye of Williamson, WVA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Alford officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
