William (Bill) Wallace Mashburn, Jr., 82, of Quitman, died on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on April 21, 1941, in Quitman to the late William Wallace, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Guess Mashburn. He graduated from Valdosta High School in 1959 and married his high school sweetheart, Myra, on March 13, 1959. Mr. Mashburn was the owner/operator of Mashburn Produce where he worked primarily as a produce broker. He retired after 50 years with Mashburn Produce but later returned to work with Miller Produce, working as a broker and later with Farmer Brown’s. Mr. Mashburn loved his family and was always thankful to God for his many rich blessings and for bestowing on him the gift of a loving family. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mr. Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myra Ervin Mashburn of Quitman; his daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Mike Jackson, Cathy and Bubba Price, and Cindy and Danny Coulter; his grandchildren and their spouses, Sarah and Austin Merriman, Michael and Devon Jackson, Matthew and Alexia Price, William and Mandy Price, Allison and Brent Robison, Katie Price, Andrew Jackson, and Daniel Coulter; his great-grandchildren, Audrey Merriman, Joshua Jackson, Molly Merriman, Surrey Jackson, Willett Price, Asa Jackson, Reagan Robison, and Wallace Price.
Services for William (Bill) Wallace Mashburn, Jr., will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Mullinax officiating. The burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Quitman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
