William (Bill) James Blue, 81, of Lake Park died on Friday, November 17, 2006 after a brief illness at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Raeford, North Carolina to the late William Murphy and Ollie Elizabeth Carpenter Blue, he was a WWII Navy veteran having served from 1943 until 1947 as an aviation mechanic. Mr. Blue retired from the civil service at Moody Air Force Base as a computer operator, documentation manager and a records administrator. He received his business degree from Blanton Business College in Asheville, N.C. and was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette Blue of Lake Park; one daughter, Janice Simpson of Valdosta; a granddaughter, Crissy Simpson of Augusta, Ga.; one grandson, Scott Simpson of Macon, Ga.; five step-children and their spouses, Brett and Katherine Cupp of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Greg and Carla Cupp of Lake Park, Sean Cupp of Virginia, Matthew Cupp of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Lisa and Brad Wells of Atlanta, Ga., several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Mr. Blue was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Earnestine Ethridge Blue.
Funeral services for William (Bill) Blue will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Renfro officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
