William Howard Giddens, 51, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday November 21, 2019 at his home. He was born in Hahira on October 10, 1968 to the late Chief James Edwards and Annis Jean Gray Giddens. William was a hard worker who always gave 120% especially when it came to his work at Union Tank Car where he was the repair manager. He loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden. He also enjoyed watching war movies. His friends referred to him as “The Legend” as he was always mastering new things. He will always be remembered as being honest, respectable, and fair.
Survivors include his wife, Samantha ”Mandy” Giddens of Valdosta; a son, Ed Giddens; a daughter, Lauren Giddens both of Valdosta; sisters, Stella Barfield (Brian) of Indiantown, Florida, and Lucille Bau’Knight (Cedric) of Valdosta; sister in laws, Dabney Norman (Don) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Charis Sanchez (Isaac) of Amarillo, Texas; brother in laws, Salty Perkins (Tracey) of Valdosta, Jim Perkins (Beth) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jared Perkins of Valdosta; his mother in law and father in law, Laura and Carl Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in law, Roy Gary Perkins.
Services for William Howard Giddens will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Massey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 – 8 P.M. Burial will take place at Sunset Hill Cemetery following the service.
