William H. (Bill) Williams, 73, of Valdosta died Friday, April 29, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Valdosta on April 19, 1938 to the late Dr. T. Conrad and Nettie McMath Williams and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Williams was a 1956 graduate of Valdosta High School where he played football for the Valdosta Wildcats which he still loved. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a brother. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and especially growing roses. Mr. Williams served in the United States Air Force for four years, stationed in Germany most of his military career and was a graduate of Valdosta State College. He retired as a conductor from Norfolk Southern Railway after thirty nine years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanie B. Williams of Valdosta, his children, William H. (Billy) Williams, Jr. of Dallas, TX., Cerece Phillips of Houston, TX. and Leigh (Arden) DeLoach of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Travis Phillips, Tara Phillips, Dianna Phillips and Catherine (Catie) DeLoach, two brothers and sisters in law, T. Conrad Williams, Jr. of Dowling Park, Fla., Joe and Linda Williams of Valdosta, Carole B. Dampier of Waycross and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McMath Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Monday, May 2, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
