William H. (Bill) Golden, Sr.

William H. (Bill) Golden, Sr., 92, of Valdosta died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Langdale Place after a period of declining health. He was born on October 4, 1913 in Sylvester, GA to the late Benjamin Augustus and Mattie Jo McCord Golden. He Graduated from Tifton High School in 1931. Mr. Golden served in United States Navy during World War II as an Aviation Electricians Mate 1st Class. He moved to the Valdosta area with his family in 1950 where he opened Golden Studio in the Valdes Hotel. He remained in business here in Valdosta until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Golden was an active member of First Baptist Church, in Valdosta.
Mr. Golden is survived by one son and daughter in law, William H. Jr. “Bill” and Peggy Golden of East Point, GA; two daughters and sons in law, Ann and Billy Embry and Lynn and Calvin Nolan, all of Valdosta; Sisters Martha Raye Harrell, and Rhunelle Branch, both of Tifton; grandsons, Trey (Amy) Golden of Covington, Bo (Lisa) Willis of Conyers, Gary Golden of Norfolk, VA, Chris (Valerie) Embry of Charleston, SC, Kevin (Roz) Nolan of Hiram, Nicky (Rachel) Nolan, of Kernersville, NC, Dennis (Pat) Nolan of Lake Park, and Pete (Tammy) Nolan of Hiram, granddaughters, Debbie (Barney) Hamlin of Fitzgerald, Kim Shiver of Hahira, Christy Golden (TJ) Recinella, of Nashville, TN and Kelly Golden of Gainesville, and 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and his very special family of caregivers at Langdale Place. Mr. Golden is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lillian H. Golden (2003), one son and daughter in law, Don and Debbie Golden (2005), a daughter Sandra Lee Golden, and two brothers, Ben Golden Jr. and Bob Golden.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Mac Weaver will officiate. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Don and Debbie Golden Scholarship Fund, c/o Sun Trust Bank or to Hospice of South GA.
