William (Oby) Kenneth Giles

William Kenneth Giles, 80, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. A resident of Valdosta for all his life, he retired from the Department of Corrections, working in maintenance. His life passion was loving his kids and family. Nothing made him happier than spending time with family. Born on July 8, 1944, to the late Frank Durant Giles and Romie Croft Hart. He was an active member of the Valdosta Church of Nazarene.

Mr. Giles is survived by his wife, Linda Giles of Valdosta, his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Jeffrey Giles and Guadalupe Giles, of Valdosta, and daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Francisco Hernandez, of Valdosta. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Joshua Hernandez, Miriam Mendoza, Josue Mendoza (John), Jordan Mendoza (Zane), Gabriella Giles, and Kenneth E. Giles; his siblings and their spouses, Margie Hopper (Norm) of Panama City, FL, Dorothy Ganas (Barry) of Lake Park, GA, and Janice Veal, of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by both his mother and father and siblings, Mike Hart of Valdosta, Larry Hart of Alpharetta, and Harvey Hart of Valdosta.

Funeral services for Mr. Giles will be held at 2pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Pastor Lonnie Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will visit prior to the service from 1-2pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
