William Edward (Ed) Miller, Sr., 71, of Lake Park, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at his home.
He was born August 25, 1943, in Valdosta, a son of the late William Henry (Slim) Miller, Jr. and Jewel Dees Miller. He graduated from Valdosta High School and had honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Ed had worked at O & I Bag, later at Southern Bag, and owned several rental properties.
Mr. Miller was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Park, where he taught Sunday School and was a Deacon. He loved the Lord, and loved to witness about Christ to others. He greatly loved his family, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Rochelle Barrett Miller of Lake Park; son, Chad Miller of Lake Park; daughter and son-in-law, Christy Miller Ellenberg and Randy of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Jordan Black, Lauren Miller, Tristin Butler, Chelsea Butler and Cale Miller; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William (Bill) Edward Miller, Jr.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Miller will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Lake Park, with Rev. Robert Dawson and Rev. Jason Spell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta.
