William Dwight Carver, 80, of Valdosta died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on March 7, 1930 in Key West, Florida to the late James Dwight and Dorothy Isabelle Baker Carver and had lived in Valdosta since 1975. Mr. Carver was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and had served as Director of Social Services @ St. Francis/St. John's Church for thirty years. He was a retired Federal Agent with United States Treasury Department. Mr. Carver enjoyed shooting, helping his family and anyone in need.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Mark and Teresita Carver of Valdosta, Jody and Latisha Carver of Blackshear, two daughters, Clara Thomas-Carver of Blackshear and Cindy Carver of Cleveland, TN., his grandchildren, Nicole Carver, Michael Carver, Dennis Canete, James D. Carver, III, Rachel Carver, JD Peterson, Catrina Peterson and Elizabeth Carver-Godwin, great grandchildren, Chloe Canete, Genevie Canete, , Keoni Canete, Jason Peterson and Abigail Godwin, sisters and brothers in law, Linda and Steve Cash of Houston, TX., Diane and Ray Lovato of Arizona, Helen Clark of Panama City, Fla., good friend, Lydie Kitte of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in by a sister, Betty Merrick.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:10p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Frank Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Rosary will be held at 6pm, Wednesday at Carson McLane Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8pm.
