William D. (Bill) Newberry

William D. (Bill) Newberry, 86 of Valdosta passed away Saturday Dec. 18, 2004 at the South Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Waverly, IL to the late Charles Arthur and Alma Rogers Newberry on Jan 23, 1918. Mr Newberry was retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sgt. after 27 years having served in the Korean and Viet Nam conflicts. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid golfer. Mr Newberry loved football and baseball and supported Lowndes and the VSU teams. He was also a white water rafter up until recently.

Survivors include his wife Mildred Newberry of Valdosta, two daughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Mickey Corbett of Lake Park, GA, Beth and Russell Bland of Clyattville, GA and a son and daughter-in-law Don and Patsy Newberry of Murfreesboro, TN, six grandchildren Zack Corbett Lake Park, GA, Julie Bland Clyattville, GA Kristy Boyer of Valdosta, GA , Burge Newberry, Bradley Newberry, and Brandon Newberry all of Murfreesboro, TN, Two Great Grandchildren Amanda Newberry and Ashlyn Newberry both of Murfreesboro, TN, and one sister Clara Robertson of Waverly, IL.

Funeral services for Mr Newberry will be Tuesday Dec 21, 2004 at 11 AM in the Chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with full military rites at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive their friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 PM Monday Night. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr Newberry.
