William “Billy” Ralph Mitchell, Jr. 63 years of age left this world at 11:05 AM on September 3, 2019 to walk the streets of Gold in presence of the Lord. Billy was born in Maryville, TN on May 20, 1956 at Fort Sanders Presbyterian Hospital to William “Bill” Mitchell, Sr. and the late Frances White Mitchell. Billy was diagnosed with Colon/Rectal Cancer in 2016. He fought a long and hard battle until the end. If he could tell you anything it would be to get yourself checked out and don’t let it happen to you. Billy graduated from Forest Park High School in 1975. Billy loved getting together with his former classmates for fellowship. He had a love for music and old cars. Billy was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. His most enjoyment came from his six-year-old grandson Brantley. He was the apple of his Paw Paw’s eyes. Billy and his wife Diane loved going to Gatlinburg and enjoying picnics in Cades Cove located in the Great Smokey Mountains. Billy worked for Orr Protection Services for 20+ years. Billy was loved and admired by his co-workers as well as most everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Diane Lancaster Mitchell of Locust Grove, his son Kyle (Camellia) Mitchell and grandson Brantley of Monticello, Georgia, father Bill Mitchell and brother John Mitchell of Ellenwood, his mother-in-law Faye DeLoach Lancaster and brother-in-law Wayne Lancaster of Eatonton, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his mother Frances White Mitchell of Ellenwood, Ga. and father-in-law Ralph Lancaster of Eatonton, Ga. and Grandparents: John (Alice) Mitchell of Alabama and Robert and Lola Mae White of Knoxville, TN., his late aunts Doris Robinson of Alabama, Marie Graves and Margaret Roberts of Tennessee, Alma DeLoach Hingson (John) and Dorthy Smith of Valdosta, GA., Lyndia DeLoach McAfee of Fayetteville, GA. and uncles Albert White of Lenoir City, TN. Nelson DeLoach of Lee, FL. He is survived by so many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 at Haisten Funeral Home, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway South, McDonough, GA. The remains will then be transported to Stockton, Georgia for a graveside service on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wayfare Cemetery.
