William (Bill) H. Scott

September 18, 1944 — September 26, 2015

William (Bill) H. Scott, 71, of Barney, Georgia, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Valdosta, Georgia. Bill was born at home September 18, 1944, in Eldon, Missouri, to the late Melvin and Hazel (Patterson) Scott. And just as he was born surrounded by family members, so too he left this life surrounded by those who love him deeply.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carolyn Huffman, mother-in-law Leitha Edenburn, sister-in-law Adele (Toni) Killion, sister-in-law Dana Edenburn, brother-in-law Bob Brown, brother-in-law Jerry Edenburn, brother-in-law Albert Edenburn, niece Leslie Edenburn Linder, and family friend Don Leadill.

For more than 30 years, Bill worked in management in the aluminum can industry with Continental Can, US Can, and finally retiring from BWay in Homerville, Georgia, in 2007. After retiring, Bill worked with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law building affordable housing for low- to moderate-income homebuyers in the Valdosta area.

Bill is survived by his devoted and loving wife Pam, of Barney; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Karen Scott of Westville, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Will Ruttencutter of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Lauren, Patrick, and Rachel Scott of Westville, Ill.; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Gerald Bagby of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; sister, June Brown of Farmington, Ill.; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Loucian Howser of Barnett, Mo.; brother-in-law Bill Edenburn of St. Louis, Mo.; sister-in-law Glenda Edenburn of Carman, Ill., and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors 6 – 8 pm, Thursday, October 1, at Martin McLane Funeral Home at 401 S. Church Street, Hahira, Georgia. Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Monday, October 5 at Mason-White Funeral Home, 20 Valley Forge Road, Washington, Illinois. Internment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, Ill.

Bill was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who was loved completely. The depth of our loss is beyond measure. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation or Smile Train. Condolences may be made online at www.mclanecares.com.
