William (Bill) Campbell

William �Bill� Campbell, 72, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center.

Bill was born November 22, 1938 in Valdosta, son of the late William B. and Amorette C. Dugger Campbell. He grew up in Valdosta and operated Campbell Electric Co., a business which was started by his father. For fifteen years Bill was employed as an Electrical Inspector for the City of Valdosta, retiring in November 2009.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Bill was well respected and made many friends through his work and enjoyed sitting and visiting with all of his friends. He had a natural way of teaching about him, and was interested in genealogy and history of the area. He also loved to hunt and fish, and was a connoisseur of southern cooking.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, Sandra Joyce Campbell, he is survived by one daughter, Christy Campbell-Seitz and husband Glenn A. Seitz II of Warner Robins; one son, Buck Campbell and wife Terri of Lake Park; two grandchildren, William Cody Campbell and Holly Campbell; two sisters, Lorena Campbell Piper and husband Bill of Hamilton Co., FL, and Susan Madeline Campbell Hamilton of Decatur, AL; three nieces and three nephews; and two brother-in-laws, Bobby Wise and wife Mildred of Statenville, and Jerry Wise and wife Dee of Valdosta.

Funeral Services for Mr. Campbell will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. John Akers officiating. Interment will follow in Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
