William Benjamin Dame, 87, of Valdosta died Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Clinch County, Georgia on December 24, 1930 to the late Willard W. and Grace Fiveash Dame. Mr. Dame was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ where he was active in the visitation program and Tuesday Morning Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He was retired from Bell South as a Supervisor and a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Dame organized the Mullet Band Fish Fry for thirty years, was an avid Valdosta Wildcat Fan and a member of the Valdosta Touchdown Club.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Mike Dame of Valdosta, Michele and Rob Weiland of Phoenix, AZ, Tim and Nan Dame of Valdosta; his grandchildren and their spouses; Marcus and Brandie Dame of Valdosta, Melanie Dame of Valdosta, Rob Weiland, III of Phoenix, AZ, Katherine and Rick Coleman of Atlanta, Benjamin Dame, Joseph Dame, David Dame, Victoria Dame all of Valdosta; his great grandchild, Bayleigh Dame of Valdosta. He was preceded death by his wife Shirley Cooper Dame.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 4, 2018 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. John Klimko and Mr. Bryan Jarvis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
