William B. "Bill" Houck

June 20, 1924 — September 26, 2016

William B. Houck, 92, of Valdosta died Monday, September 26, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center. Mr. Houck was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on June 20, 1924 to the late Calvin B. and Margaret McGuire Houck. Mr. Houck was a resident of Roanoke, Virginia for sixty years before moving to Valdosta ten years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and owned and operated Houck and Company Advertising. He was a graduate of Fishburn Military Academy in Virginia and Duke University. An Eagle Scout, Mr. Houck was an avid golfer and longtime private pilot.
Survivors include his wife, La-Voe Johns Houck of Valdosta; daughter and son in law, Sandra and Wesley Blanchard of Valdosta; son and daughter in law, William Bryan Houck, Jr. and Suzanne Houck of Palm Desert, CA; his sister, Margaret Ann Griffin of Valdosta; grandchildren, Will and Heather Blanchard, Scott and Margaret Ann Carter, Charlie and DeeAnn Houck, Mac and Catherine Houck, Katey and Ryan McBurney; five great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Fellowship Home and Hospice of South Georgia for their care given to Mr. Houck during his illness.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Christ Church Urn Garden. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
