William A. (Bill) Sims

William A. (Bill) Sims, 86, of Lake Park died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Lakehaven Nursing Home in Valdosta. He was born in Lowndes County on August 10, 1923 and was the son of the late Lucile Sullivan Carter and Fred Carter. Mr. Sims was a member of the Forrest Street United Methodist Church and a retired farmer and Georgia Times Union Paper Carrier. He loved fishing and sharing his passion with family and friends.

Survivors include his five daughters, Joy and John Minor of West Point, GA., Beth and her fiancé, Billy Herndon, Jr. of Lake Park, Billie Jo and Rick Wisdom of Murfreesboro, TN., Rosa Ann and Jeff Shirley of Baroda, MI., Penny and Bronson Barth of Charlestown, IN and their mother, LaRose Bass of Charlestown, IN., 4-grandchildren, 7-great grandchildren, sister in law, Katherine Sims of Valdosta, nephew, Fred and Terri Sims of Key West, Fla., niece, Kathy Hunter of Valdosta and a great nephew and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Sims.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, July 23, 2010 in the chapel of McLane
Lakewood Funeral Home with Mr. J. C. McMullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Echols County.
