Wiley F. Herndon, 86, of Valdosta died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Valdosta on October 22, 1924 to the late Wiley Herndon, Sr. and Eloise Barrow Herndon. Mr. Herndon was a retired general mechanic at Packaging Corporation of America, a World War II Navy veteran where he was a baker and a member of Grace Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son and daughter in law, Johnny W. and Kathy Herndon, two daughters and sons in law, Linda and Raymond Copeland and Cindy and Greg Powell, all of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Angie Copeland Powell, Chad Herndon, Brad Herndon and Greg Powell, two great grandchildren, Thomas Powell and Cara Powell. Mr. Herndon is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Vastine Herndon on March 5, 2008, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from five until seven p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
