Wesley Thomas “W.T.” Fletcher, Sr., 82, of Valdosta, died on Monday, April 12, 2021 at his residence. Born on March 13, 1939 to the late Thomas Alvin & Mary Lee McLeod Fletcher, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. W.T. graduated from Lowndes County High School in the late 1950. He soon went to work in the service department of Langdale Ford where he worked for several years. He then started a career driving commercial trucks, beginning with Trailways Buses, then to Elcona Corporation delivering mobile homes. He concluded his 30-year career driving trucks for Scruggs Company in the mid 1990’s. W.T. loved fishing, whether alone or with family and friends, he also was an avid fan of NASCAR and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He was also very proud of his Rodeo belt buckle collection.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Wesley & Marsha Fletcher of Claxton; his daughter and son in law, Melody & Terry McEntyre of Valdosta; sisters, Marion Parish of Valdosta, Mary Alice Dees of Jasper, Florida, Rosa Lee Touchton of Valdosta; brother, Bruce Fletcher of Lake Park; grandchildren, Ashley Fletcher of Valdosta, Caley Fletcher and Savannah Fletcher of Claxton, David Abbey of Lawrence, Kansas, and Austin Abbey of Wylie, Texas; and greatgrandchildren, Mason Abbey, Gavin Abbey, and Freya Abbey.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at two p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Steve Kegley will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
