Warren Trenton Taylor, “Trent” to those who loved him —and everyone loved him — passed from this life to the next in the early hours of October 13, 2019. He was born on August 15, 1977 in Tifton, Georgia to Eddie and Mary Taylor.
A scientific measurement of his heart would reveal that it was big — huge really — and it always seemed to have room for one more friend. Located somewhere near his heart was an organ that was fine-tuned to seek out those who needed a hug, an encouraging word, or needed to lean on a man who’d carry your load and his own. His brain was special, too. Optimized to be funny, to find the absurd in every situation and to turn it into a finely crafted piece of comedy gold. If the joke didn’t make you laugh, you’d join in with his laugh — the most infectious condition to spread through humanity since the Black Plague. When you were around Trent, you simply bided your time until he’d laugh and you could join in … and in doing so, your soul was lightened, and the cares of the day and your condition was cleared away.
All his days he was a defender of others. When playing with toys as a young boy the story was always protecting someone else. He played defense for the Lowndes County Vikings because he loved the idea of putting himself in harms way to better serve the team. He was fierce in the protection of his family, once running two burglary suspects to ground and holding them at gunpoint until the police could arrive. The same trait led him to excel in his profession as an insurance advisor, helping people protect their families from financial tragedy, and attending their funerals so that their loved ones would hear a kind word from a kind man.
In the end he was defeated by that same big heart. While not a medical diagnosis, it wouldn’t be far off to say that his heart had put in more work than it could be expected to handle over the course of a normal life. Never one to shrink from a challenge, Trent fit a lifetime of loving into what amounted to a short time on earth.
His loss is felt keenly by Holly, and his two children, Haley and Ty, who will live lives blessed by what he has given, in a world of love he created for them. His mother, Mary, and brother, Trey, and other family members won’t ever fill the Trent-sized hole in their hearts. His friends will tell stories of Trent — maybe barking at a Georgia Bulldogs game with that booming laugh and mischievous grin — for decades to come.
And behind it all, Trent’s legacy will remain: love one another and have a good time doing it.
Over many conversations Trent made it clear that at his passing, his life should be celebrated. His family intends to do just that with a visitation of friends and family on Wednesday, October 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Park Place. His farewell service will be at Carson McLane Funeral Home on Thursday at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Trent would have preferred a donation to the Eddie Taylor Foundation, a fund of the Community Foundation of South Georgia, P.O. Box 2654, Thomasville, GA, 31799, www.cfsga.net. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
