Wanda “Mema” Gunsaulus Stephenson, 73, of Valdosta, died on Friday, May 3, 2019, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Waycross, on September 12, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Jack Victor Gunsaulus and Paulene Taylor Gunsaulus. Mrs. Stephenson had worked as a Para Professional for the Lowndes County School System. A member of Gracepoint Baptist Church, she dearly loved her church family. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Stephenson was especially fond of her canine companion “Lady Bug.”
Widow of the late Freddrick Ashley Stephenson, she is survived by her children, Freddrick Stephenson of Hahira, Belinda (Buie) Griner of Nashville, and Victoria Southerland of Valdosta; eight grandchildren, Ashley Stephenson of Arizona, Jessere (John) Mason of Iowa, Dustin (Shawna) Beach of Keaton Beach, Stephen (Brandie) Griner, Brittany Luke, of Nashville, Heather (Jake) Harris of Valdosta, Amber (Alex) Harnage, Tracy Southerland of Hahira; nine great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a brother, Bill (Debbie) Gunsaulus of Jacksonville, Florida.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. There will be no formal services and Mrs. Stephenson will be cremated. Condolences may be made online at www.mclanecares.com.
