Wanda Alene Pierce Rumph, 77, of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 24, 1942 in Lowndes County to the late Luther and Esther Chastain Pierce. Mrs. Rumph was a member of Park Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved her family, enjoyed sewing, cooking and collecting dolls. Mrs. Rumph loved all kinds of music, was a devoted wife, mother and caretaker. She was loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Rumph is survived by her daughters, Subrena Rumph Boggs (Frank Swanson) of Nashville, GA, Sherrie Rumph Butler of Hahira and Heather Pierce Powell of Valdosta, granddaughter, Schuyler Boggs of Tifton, brother, Wendell Pierce of Lake Park, sister, Marilyn Roffe of Cherry Lake, FL, sisters in law, Pat Godwin of Valdosta, Joyce Ostean of Powder Springs, GA and Jean Davis of Biloxi, MS, brother in law, Thomas (CeCe) Rumph of Valdosta, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-one years on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, Raymond Hollis Rumph. Also, brother Thomas Wilton Pierce of Clyattville, sisters, Patricia Zipperer, Barbara Ellen Pierce and Carolyn Pierce, all of Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
