Walter (Wally) Libero, 80, of Valdosta died on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his daughter's residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 8, 1930 to the late Richard and Cresenza Libero. He was the owner/operator of the Perma Cab Corporation in New York City and worked as a social director for Acra Manor Resort in upstate New York. Since moving to Valdosta eight years ago, he has been involved in many social activities. He enjoyed going to downtown Valdosta and participating in First Fridays, and with his circle of friends, attended area dance events. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his son, Walter F. Libero of Queens, New York; daughter, Dianne Libero and a son, Howard John Libero both of New Smyrna Beach; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ray Driskell of Valdosta and a daughter, Joella Libero of Sarasota, Florida; seven grandchildren, Cheyenne, Lara, Erika, Adrianne, Sonny, Rosa and Julie; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Libero of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, May Libero.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the Son Rise Baptist Church in Hahira. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one's favorite charity. The Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the Libero family. Carson McLane.
