Walter Franklin Player

Walter F. Player, 81, of Hahira, GA died Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Berrien Nursing Center in Nashville, GA. He was born in Hahira on April 16, 1927. Mr. Player was retired from Toledo Scales in Dayton, Ohio, was of the Baptist faith and loved horses and loved to ride them with his good friend, the late George M. Fiveash, Sr.

He is survived by one brother and sister in law, Donald N. and Jenny Player of Hahira, three nieces, Jacki Haines Swanson and Patricia Young of Hahira, Marcia Dodd of Valdosta, four nephews, Dell and Becky Player of Valdosta, Steve and Montye Player of Lake Park, Donnie Player and Tommy Haines of Hahira, three great nieces, Amelia Player, Kristin McLeod, Wendy and Jonathan Livingston, six great nephews, Landon Swanson, Kyle Young, R. J. Young, Ty Haines and Jon Haines and Beau Haines, one great great niece, Emily Ann Livingston, one great great nephew, Keighan Haines and several cousins and many friends. Mr. Player is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Francis Moore Player, his parents, Daniel Andrew and Oleta Dickerson Player, one sister and brother in law, Vera Nell Player Haines and Jack Haines, one nephew, Bo Haines and one great niece, Amanda Player.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 5:30 p. m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Harris Whitman officiating.
