Walter (Dub) Culpepper, 88, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his residence. He was born on September 9, 1928 in Echols County to the late Jim and Flossie Corbett Culpepper and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Owens-Illinois as an electrician. Mr. Culpepper was a member of Pine Grove Community Baptist Church where he served as a lay speaker, and past Sunday school superintendent, a Deacon. Mr. Culpepper was past president for the Georgia Federal Credit Union, and the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.) He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved being in God’s creation.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Regina Culpepper; his daughter, Cay Watson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Susanne Culpepper and Roger and Wendy Culpepper all of Valdosta; his grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Watson of Valdosta, Gretta and Tommy York of Nebraska, Grant Watson, Brandon and Bridgett Culpepper, Harrison Culpepper, Jim and Autumn Culpepper, Jesslyn and Clinton Parkins, Jacob Culpepper, and Jeremiah Culpepper all of Valdosta; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Clifford (Tip) and Annie Laura Culpepper; a sister-in-law, Faye Culpepper; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Culpepper and his brother, Tom Culpepper.
Services for Walter (Dub) Culpepper will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Culpepper officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
