Wallace Henry (Jim) Pierson, Jr., 91, of Barney died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 21, 1926 to the late Wallace Henry, Sr. and Esther Ruth Mitchell Pierson. Mr. Pierson was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. He owned and operated Econ Placer of Orlando, Florida. Mr. Pierson had been a fireman in Birmingham, Alabama and at Sanford Naval Station in Sanford, Florida and a member of Destroyer Escort Sailors Association Inc.
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Sandra P. and Daniel L. Morrison of Barney, one son and two daughters in law, Scott Mitchell and Roxanne Pierson, Debbie Pierson all of Orlando, FL; his four grandchildren, Ryan (Jamie) Pierson, Seth (Jen) Pierson, Waylon Morrison, Carey (Jamie) O’Steen; four great grandchildren, Camden Pierson, Skyler O’Steen, Lylia Pierson, Van Pierson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Hopkins Pierson, one son, Russell W. Pierson, two grandsons, David L. Morrison and Robert Troy Morrison.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Sally Flowers officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Hall Cemetery.
