W. M. “BILL” GRIFFIN, 86, of Morven died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Brooks County Hospital in Quitman. He was born on April 20, 1918 and raised in Coolidge, son of the late Charles “Tom” and Dorothy Suber Griffin. Mr. Griffin had lived in Morven since 1964 was a prominent farmer in Brooks, Thomas and Seminole Counties and a member of the Morven Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Jean Griffin of Morven, a daughter, Dotty Alligood of Atlanta, a son, W. D. “Billy” Griffin of Quitman, his grandchildren, Gena Lynn Johnson of Valdosta, Jennifer Griffin, Dena Griffin, David Griffin all of Quitman, Todd Alligood of Woodstock, Ted Alligood of Winder and Tad Alligood of Alpharetta, 7-great grandchildren, one brother, J. T. Griffin of Valdosta, two sisters, Burnett Barnes of Thomasville and Betty Jo Carlton of Coolidge. He was preceded in death by a half brother, France Aycock.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Monday, March 7, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Charile Scarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
