Vonnie Harris Clanton

VONNIE HARRIS CLANTON, 90, of Hahira died Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the Berrien County Hospital. He was born in Lowndes County on December 26, 1915 to the late Paul Matthew and Pauline Harris Clanton and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a member of the Pineview Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II. Mr. Clanton was a retired glass installer and loved to hunt.
Mr. and Mrs. Clanton have been residing at the Victory House in Nashville for the past two years.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel Parker Clanton of Hahira, one son, Wayne Clanton of Stathum, GA., two daughters and a son in law, Sandra Pate of Rex, GA. And Sharon and James Stephens of Lakeland, his grandchildren and their spouses, Ginger and Billy Jackson of Naylor, Teresa and John Raines of Covington, Wayne and Christy Stecker of Burleson, TX.and Matthew Hart of Sandy Springs, GA., 8-great grandchildren, one brother and sister in law, Jack and Sheila Clanton of Tallahassee, Fla., three sisters and a brother in law, Doris Giddens of Hahira, Inez and L. T. Sellars of Clyattville and Ila Garner of Ft. Myers, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Sellars officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
