Viva Zipperer Jones

September 9, 1906 — March 18, 2005

VIVA ZIPPERER JONES, 98, of Valdosta died Friday, March 18, 2005 at the Crestwood Nursing Home. She was born on September 9, 1906 in Lowndes County to the late Charles and Lucy Roberts Zipperer. Mrs. Jones was a member of Azalea City Church of God and grew up in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She held tent revivals for many years to spread the gospel and was active in the Azalea City Prison Ministry. Mrs. Jones loved music, playing the piano, the accordian and the Hawaiian electric guitar.

Survivors include two sisters, Delphia Peace of Valdosta and Floride Miller of Kingsport, TN., three brothers and sisters in law, Foster and Hazel Zipperer, Lawrence and Inez Zipperer, Stanley and Hilda Zipperer all of Lowndes County, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. “Bud” Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Monday, March 21, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Gabbard officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
