Viva Southall Joiner

Viva Southall Joiner, 85, of Valdosta died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Clyattville on August 24, 1928 to the late Haynes Brinson and Melissa Hutchinson Southall and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Joiner was a member of the Park Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She attended Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee and graduated from Valdosta State College. Mrs. Joiner was a retired school teacher and administrator having worked in the Echols County and Lowndes County School System.

Survivors include her husband of sixty four years, Henry C. Joiner of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Sandy and Phillip Coppage of Hiawassee, GA, Pam and Bob Ellis of Nashville, son and daughter in law, Rick and Kara Joiner of Suwanee, grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Scott Powers of Cumming, Kathryn and Everett Wright of Hiawassee, Erica Rae Joiner of Suwanee, Jason Matthew and Ashley Coppage of Highlands, NC., Kirk and Mendy Darby of Navarre, FL, Cullen Benjamin Joiner of Suwanee, great grandchildren, Cydni Coppage, Peyton Coppage, Harrison Powers, Garrett Powers, Aria Wright, Zachary Darby and Karsyn Darby, sister and brother in law, Glennell S. and Gordon House of Valdosta, two brothers and sisters in law, Haynes Arlon and Peggie Southall of Augusta, Harvard Brinson and Jackie Southall of Riverview, FL, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, September 1, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Ellis, Mr. Phillip Coppage and Mr. Buddy LaHood officiating. Entombment will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
