Virginia Stephenson Parker, 86, of Jennings, Florida died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She was born in Remerton on November 11, 1924 to the late Lee and Eva Harris Stephenson. Mrs. Parker was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always had a big smile. She was a gifted seamstress, a master scrabble player and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Valdosta High School where she was a star basketball player. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Parker of Jennings, Fla., her children and their spouses, John and Bruce Bostick of Missouri, Teresa Cox of Panama City, Fla., David and Katrina Bostick of Missouri, Ginny Bostick of Panama City, Fla., Tammy and Jimmy McNabb of Zolfo, Fla., Danny and Tina Parker of Quincy, Fla., 12-grandchildren, 17-great grandchildren, one sister, Joyce Johnson of Thomasville, three brothers and sisters in law, Hugh and Betty Stephenson, Leland and GiGi Stephenson, Vernon and Marion Stephenson all of Valdosta, numerous nieces and nephews. She was prceded in death by two brothers, Lankford Stephenson and Willard Stephenson and two sisters, Katherine Hafner and Dorothy Charos and “favorite child” K.P.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
