Virginia S. "Jinny" Ellison, 100, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Fellowship Home following a period of declining health. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on December 19, 1911 to the late Franklyn Hiram and Sophie Marie Schutte Sanborn. She retired after 25 years of service as a stock control clerk in civil engineering at Moody Air Force Base in 1976. She was also a pink lady volunteer for South Georgia Medical Center, a bowling enthusiast, a staunch Florida Gator fan, and a member of the Eastern Star. She was also active in her church, First Presbyterian, where she was a choir member from 1951 until recent years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judith E. and Grady Folsom of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Sandy F. and Brenda Ellison of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren and their spouses, James R. Lineberger, Jr. of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Jennifer S. and David Belancsik of Johnson City, New York, Julie Anne and Greg Protheroe of Chapin, South Carolina, Lon and Maureen Busby, Ann B. and Dan Priscott, and Christy M. and Travis Waldrop all of Gainesville, Florida; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben F. Ellison, Jr.
Services for Virginia "Jinny" Ellison will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Long officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
