Virginia Denise Stewart

Virginia Denise Stewart, 60, of Alapaha died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Bacon County Hospital in Alma, GA after a brief illness. She was born on July 14, 1946 in Lowndes County to the late J. B. Cofield, Sr. and Rudine Allen Cofield. Ms. Stewart was a Cosmetologist at Shirley’s His and Her’s Styling Salon and was a member of the Azalea City Church of God.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter in law, Michael Stewart of Lowndes County, Craig and Chasta Stewart of Berrien County, five grandchildren, Cole Stewart, Carley Stewart, Brandon Stewart, Jordan Stewart and Blake Stewart, three brothers and sisters in law, J. B. (Jerry) Cofield, Jr. and Nancy Cofield of Jacksonville Beach, FL, (Judge) Dewey and Joyce Cofield of Valdosta, Bobby Jack and Wanda Cofield of Tifton, one sister and brother in law, Shirley and Wilbur Pelphrey of Valdosta, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ms. Stewart is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Alford Sherrod Stone.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2007 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Reverend Carroll Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the funeral home.
