Virginia Christine Newman

Virginia Christine Newman, 94, of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on September 8, 1926 to the late Wade Eugene Scott and Essie Mae Davis Scott. Mrs. Newman was a homemaker and a member of Bemiss United Methodist Church. She loved singing and sang in the church choir. Her love for music inspired her to attend LaGrange College, LaGrange, GA and Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA where she received an associate’s degree in music. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting and loved her grandchildren.
Mrs. Newman is survived by her son, John Edward Newman, Jr. of Hahira, daughter and son in law, Beverly Newman Noonan and John Noonan of Marietta, grandchildren, Angela Davis, John Wayne Newman, Richard Wade Newman, Robert Damon, Jr., Cindy Thompson and Glen Horn, great grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Cody Davis, Cameron Davis, Annalyn Newman, Richard Wade Newman, Jr., Alexa Damon, India Thompson and Garret Thompson, great great grandchildren, Kyleigh McKnight and Tyler McKnight. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Edward Newman, Sr., sisters, Nell Brumbaugh and Betty Moore, brothers, Tom Scott and Eugene Scott.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at two p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from one until two p.m. prior to the service.
