Virginia Brown Turner, 89, of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born December 11, 1921 in Lowndes County, a daughter of the late R.I. Brown, Sr. and Uldene Husbands Brown. Mrs. Turner was formerly a member of First United Methodist Church and Central Church of Christ.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Randy Bennett; a son, William A. "Al" Turner, Jr.; twin step-grandsons, Jeremy and wife Alana Bennett, and Justin Bennett; one sister, Rachel Russell; one brother, Ralph E. Brown and wife Hilda, all of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William A. "Bill" Turner, Sr.; two brothers, R.I. Brown, Jr. and Jerry W. Brown; and one sister, Lula B. Finney.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Turner will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2011, at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. Charlie Scarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Mausoleum Chapel.
